I hope all my Muslim followers had a fulfilling Ramadhan & and an amazing Eid!
I have always wanted to start doing my own lookbooks on NmDiaries but could never figure out how to create a custom menu to help my readers navigate their way through my blog. After a couple hundred mental breakdowns I am proud to let you all know that I have now learnt how to do this so I will be able to bring you a selection of blog-posts as opposed to my every so often lessons learnt posts!
Growing up, that Eid feeling has slowly and surely dimmed. It is no longer about the exciting new clothes I get to wear or the spread of glorious food I am able to fill my stomach with.
Eid in my household has now somewhat turned into an intimate time for my family. Since we have all grown up we are all either working full time or studying at University. We very rarely get time to sit down together and eat, talk, and enjoy being around each others company.
I still pretty much love using Eid as an excuse to doll myself up and overdressing as on this occasion it is a must and is the only time it is acceptable!
My mum used to spend 100s of pounds on ready made dresses for us but as we grew older we had less and less time to make the trip to Alum Rock in Birmingham to pick through the thousands of shops that held the most extravagant dresses.
Now my mum picks out material she feels is best suited to our characters and she gets the material tailored to our favoured design.
This year my mum chose the same material for me, my sisters and even herself! We had all decided to wear similar style dresses and my older sister immediately starting designing our outfits.
My outfit had a plain, stone coloured dress as an under layer and then on top I wore a lace jacket which buttoned my chest in place. It then opened up to expose the tone coloured dress underneath.
I always wear gold jewelery so this time I decided to pair my dress with a silver choker I found in New Look for £9.99 and some silver jhumkeh earings I found in an indian market stalls in Leamington spa! The two paired so perfectly I almost cried when I seen everything together.
I very rarely wear heels but did need a classic black pair to help my dress flow nicely. I had gone to town with the intention of buying a cute pair of heels from Primark but they every single size in the universe besides size 4! In the end I settled for a pair from New Look!
I hope you liked my very first Lookbook!
